Recognition

May 3, 2011 – Ashtarak, Week 20

Today I would like to say two or three sentences and then tell you about some recent adventures

We must learn to recognize the Lord’s Hands and Satans Hands. I spoke about this before but we must recognize the Lord’s hands so that we can respond to his love and miracles with gratitude and we must recognize Satan’s hands so that we do not slowly distance ourselves from God’s eternal love and guidance.

Alma 34:

39Yea, and I also exhort you, my brethren, that ye be watchful unto prayer continually, that ye may not be led away by the temptations of the devil, that he may not overpower you, that ye may not become his subjects at the last day; for behold, he rewardeth you no good thing.

40And now my beloved brethren, I would exhort you to have patience, and that ye bear with all manner of afflictions; that ye do not revile against those who do cast you out because of your exceeding poverty, lest ye become sinners like unto them;

41But that ye have patience, and bear with those afflictions, with a firm hope that ye shall one day rest from all your afflictions.

I hope that we will use our brain less and speak to God with our heart. The heart is the meeting place of our spirit and the Holy Spirit which is Heavenly Father’s messenger. He will work through small and simple means so that our faith might be tested.

I climbed up to a church built into a hill face (see where the two slopes meet in the middle that is about a 3 kilometer hike to the middle (see pictures) The church was small, but a holy place. It was an Armenian Apostolic Church. We went with a few of our members and an investigator. We picked flowers for Mother’s Day

We went to the zoo. It was very interesting. Magnificent is really the best way to describe most of the animals. It was sad that all they only had a cage to live in. But if was nice to be with some of the members and investigators. They are really amazing people.

We also went to the Genocide Memorial the day after the Memorial Day.

Elder Lush and I beat each other up with our new “weapons”

The Branch made a meal from greens that they pick in the canyon/by the river. They are truly gatherers. It is amazing some the plants that they so easily identify. I hope to learn their ways. I tasted the plant equivalent of a warhead candy yesterday it was so interesting (5)

That’s what has happened recently. I hope you enjoy the pictures. I love you. I pray that when we find ourselves stuck, seeking direction that we listen to the words of Nephi and read our scriptures “Wherefore, I said unto you, feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do.”
