1 Nephi 19
23… but that I might more fully persuade them to believe in the Lord their Redeemer I did read unto them that which was written by the prophet bIsaiah; for I did cliken all scriptures unto us, that it might be for our dprofit and learning.
24Wherefore I spake unto them, saying: Hear ye the words of the prophet, ye who are a aremnant of the house of Israel, abbranch who have been broken off; chear ye the words of the prophet, which were written unto all the house of Israel, and liken them unto yourselves, that ye may have hope…
2 Nephi 31:20
Wherefore, ye must press forward with a asteadfastness in Christ, having a perfect brightness of bhope, and aclove of God and of all men. Wherefore, if ye shall press forward, feasting upon the word of Christ, and dendure to the end, behold, thus saith the Father: Ye shall have eeternal life.
What allows us to have a perfect brightness of hope?
Knowing that Jesus Christ had the power to die for us and rise again, that we too might live again after death.
What is a perfect brightness of hope?
It is knowing that we are worthy to live with God and our families again after this life. Without a personal knowledge(in other words without receiving a personal answer from God about this) we cannot have Pure Joy. This Joy lights up the soul. It feels like you are filled with so mush light you want to burst. It is a joy that purifies our thoughts and desires and motivates us to serve others
Can we always have this hope?
Yes we can IF we 1) Read the words of Christ and learn how to better follow him 2) Pray for help to Keep all of the commandments 3) Share the Joy that you feel from 1 and 2 with others as soon as you feel it.
We know spiritual truth with our spirit, with our feelings. It is not a matter of reading a book it is about trying what you read and feeling if the book is teaching truth. How do we know what our feelings mean? We Pray for specific things and wait until God touches our hearts, so that our feelings are undeniably from God.
This is the Easter Season. It is more about Christ overcoming the world and less about a part of the world rejecting him. It is about him accomplishing the will of his father and providing a way for us to return to live with him and our family in peace. Peace from the cares of this world.
This Joy comes from believing in Christ enough to keep his commandments. The first things that he asks us to do is the Have faith in him. That faith is increased as we read about his life, try to follow his example and pray to Heavenly Father in his name. That faith will grow and we will naturally want to be cleaned from our sins as he has provided the way of repentance. After we repent we will naturally want to follow his example and be baptized by God’s authority, jsut as he was baptized by John the Baptist. After baptism Christ has promised to give us a supernal gift. The Gift of the Holy Ghost. This is the Spirit of God, promised to those who are baptized in the name of Christ. This spirit is given to guide us to success and to salvation.
If you have been baptized by water and not received the Gift of the Holy Ghost (That it may be your constant companion/friend) please seek to receive that gift. Without the Gift of the Holy Ghost you cannot have that Perfect Brightness of Joy.
I know that Christ did much more than die for us, he live a perfect life every day so that he could make a perfect sacrifice. Don’t ask me how, ask me how I know. I don’t know how he did it, but I know that he did. God has told me this much through his Holy Spirit. I pray that we all can find more hope in Christ’s Resurrection than despair in his death. Even he himself said, Fear not, for I have overcome the world”
If you truly understand Christ’s sacrifice, with your heart, with your feelings, you will smile.
This is a gospel of Joy, hope of smiles. It is the Light of Truth unto salvation. Jesus is the Son of the Living God. He lives and beacons us all to follow his example through baptism and through receiving the Gift of the Holy Ghost by God’s priesthood authority.
This is my witness and my testimony,
